Healthline is a free service you can call any time, day or night. You'll speak with a registered nurse who can talk through your symptoms, tell you whether you need to be seen urgently or whether it can wait until we're open, and point you to the right place if it can't.

It's a good first call if you're unsure how serious something is, if you're caring for someone unwell overnight, or if you just want advice before deciding whether to go in. Interpreters are available if you'd rather talk in another language.

See a Doctor Online
Practice Plus is a virtual GP service that lets you see a doctor by phone or video from wherever you are. It operates as an extension of our practice — clinicians have secure access to your health record and will share notes back with our team after your appointment.
Practice Plus is available weekdays until 10:00pm and weekends and public holidays from 8:00am to 8:00pm.
You can book online in advance or choose a time that suits you. Payment is taken at the time of booking using a credit or debit card, but you are only charged once your consultation is complete. Community Services Card holders pay a reduced fee.
Practice Plus can help with most things you would normally see your GP for — illness, injuries, prescriptions, lab test requests, mental health support, and off-work certificates. If you need a prescription, it will be sent electronically to your chosen pharmacy.
24 Hour Surgery
24 Hour Surgery is a walk-in urgent care clinic open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. No appointment is needed — you can walk in any time.

They can see you for urgent medical issues you would normally visit your GP for, as well as accidents and injuries including cuts, sprains, and broken bones. A fracture service is available on-site. Notes from your visit are sent back to our team so we stay across your care.
Free parking is available on-site. The clinic is wheelchair accessible with a drop-off area at the front entrance. Unichem Bealey Avenue pharmacy is located next door and is open 9:00am to 10:00pm daily.
Children under 14 receive free visits after 6:00pm on weekdays and all day on weekends. Community Services Card holders pay reduced fees.
Riccarton Clinic Urgent Care
Riccarton Clinic provides walk-in urgent care from 8:00am to 8:00pm every day of the year. No appointment is needed.

The clinic treats accidents, injuries and illnesses that need prompt attention but are not life-threatening. Services include fracture management, X-rays, laboratory testing and observation. You do not need to be enrolled with Riccarton Clinic to use its urgent care service.
A copy of your visit notes can be sent to your usual GP so they can continue your care. Fees apply and may vary depending on your age, enrolment status and whether you hold a Community Services Card.

Christchurch Hospital Emergency Department
Christchurch Hospital’s Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It is for serious or life-threatening illnesses and injuries that need hospital-level care.

Go to the Emergency Department for problems such as severe difficulty breathing, persistent chest pain, loss of consciousness, uncontrolled bleeding, a serious accident or a sudden severe illness. Patients are assessed when they arrive and treated according to how urgently they need care, so people with less serious conditions may have a long wait.
The Emergency Department has a dedicated entrance and emergency drop-off area. Follow the Emergency Department signs when you reach the Christchurch Hospital campus.
